The Philadelphia Eagles took care of business in Week 1, defeating the Dallas Cowboys in a back-and-forth battle.
It will be a long road for the defending champion Eagles to get back to the Super Bowl, and the best teams are always looking for ways to improve.
They’ve made some recent acquisitions to bolster their roster, including the addition of running back Tank Bigsby in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
It’s a head-scratching move to some, considering how dominant Saquon Barkley has been during his time with Philadelphia, but NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo gave it some context.
“The Eagles’ trade for Tank Bigsby is in part due to a need for another kick returner, sources say. He’ll be in the mix for that role with Will Shipley, who had one return against the Cowboys, dealing with a rib injury,” Garafolo wrote on X.

With Shipley dealing with a rib injury, the Eagles can’t afford to take any chances of him missing extended time without a suitable replacement.
This move might be viewed as unnecessary to some, but the Eagles have had a calculated approach to their roster for years.
If adding Bigsby gives them the depth they need, it’ll be worth it in the end, especially if they go on another deep playoff run.
