A notable reporter for the New York Giants has shed light on the significant changes to expect in the offense with Jaxson Dart as their new starting quarterback in Week 4 and beyond.
There has been a lot of buzz about the first-round pick for months. He reportedly has picked up the team’s scheme far quicker than expected, and his strong showing during the preseason confirmed he was ahead of schedule. It created weeks of speculation about when he will eventually take over the starting QB job for Big Blue.
Well, that will happen this Sunday when New York welcomes a red-hot Los Angeles Chargers team for a Week 4 matchup. With veteran Russell Wilson out and the rookie in, many are wondering how the offense will change for the better so they can score an upset win and return to competitive play.
Well, SNY NFL reporter Connor Hughes has detailed the differences fans should look for in the weeks ahead.

“I fully expect this offense with Dart to look quite a bit different, and that’s a good thing for the Giants because it’s been much of what it looked like a year ago, when it was one of the worst offenses in the NFL,” Hughes began by saying. “With Dart, you’re going to see this team attack all three levels of the defense. You’re going to see a lot of RPOs, a lot of QB runs, but the biggest emphasis is going to be on the quick game.
“It’s something Dart was so successful with at Ole Miss. That’s what Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka are going to look to do against the Chargers. You’re still going to see aggressiveness,” he added. “You’ll still see them try to go deep down the field, but it’s that bang-bang offense that’s designed to get the ball out of the QB’s hands quickly. That is what the Giants want to do with Dart as their quarterback.”
The 36-year-old Wilson showed he still had the potential to make big plays during a 450-yard performance in Week 2. However, that was a blip on the radar. Over the last few years, he has gone into a steep decline as he has lost his running impact and hasn’t been able to pull the trigger on quick passes. In theory, the Giants should have those elements and others in their offense going forward.
