Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety DeShon Elliott had some choice words for the NFL after the league issued him a $5,797 fine for wearing an unapproved black towel during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

“Count your f****** days … Yall worried about the wrong things. Let’s fix things that actually mean something,” Elliot wrote in an Instagram post.

Elliott, who tagged the NFL and NFLPA in the post, also included that letter from the league office that informed him that he was fined.

The letter states the NFL only approves of white towels, and they have to be licensed towels and approved by the league office for use on the playing field. Furthermore, they aren’t allowed to have any personal messages, logos, names, symbols or illustrations.

Elliott had a standout performance in the team’s 24-21 win in Dublin. He recorded six combined tackles, an interception, a sack, two passes defended and two quarterback hits.

Elliott had missed the Steelers’ past two games after spraining his MCL during their Week 1 win over the New York Jets.

“I’m a ball player, man,” Elliott said afterward. “It don’t matter. Honestly, I’m just blessed to be able to keep playing ball. After the injury, I didn’t know how bad it was going to be. I’m extremely blessed and happy I was able to be out there today. I gave my all, like I always do, and I was rewarded with some plays.”

During the second quarter, Elliott leaped in front of a Carson Wentz pass meant for Jordan Addison. He celebrated with a jig in the end zone. On the fourth-and-17 stop with 14 seconds to go, Elliott almost had another pick. Still, the ball dropped incomplete, sealing the Steelers’ win.
