Derrick Henry joined the Dan Patrick Show, and is now looking to rush for 2,000 yards to be featured in an Adam Sandler film
On Tuesday, Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry joined the Dan Patrick Show and came away with new motivation to once more rush for 2,000 yards in a season.
As Henry’s interview ended, he complimented Patrick’s bright, lime-green hoodie. Patrick shared the hoodie is from actor Adam Sandler and merchandise from the “Happy Gilmore 2” film. Sandler just happens to be one of Henry’s favorite actor, which inspired Patrick to make a bet.
“Can you do me a favor? If you ever see him again, tell him I’m a really big fan. I’d really love to meet him one day,” Henry said.
“You know what I’m going to do? I’m going to text him today and ask if he’ll send a video,” Patrick said. “And then I’m going to send it to the Ravens. And, if you get to 2,000 yards, I’ll get you in a Sandler movie.”
“Alright, cool! Say no more,” Henry answered. “Remember that! Say no more. The bet is on.”
Prior to the bet, Patrick congratulated Henry on his contract extension with the Ravens and teased him about getting “just” 1,900 yards last season and asked how important 2,000 yards was for Henry, who shared it wasn’t.
“It wasn’t. It wasn’t important at all,” Henry said. “But you know when you get that close everybody’s like, ‘You couldn’t get 2,000? Why couldn’t you get 2,000?’”
Now, it is important. And the Ravens just may well benefit from Henry being motivated by the opportunity to join Sandler in a future film.
