Bo Nix broke his right ankle late in overtime of the Denver Broncos’ divisional-round victory over Buffalo on Saturday. He is set to undergo season-ending ankle surgery on Tuesday.
Jarrett Stidham will start the AFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl if the Broncos advance. The Broncos will host either the Houston Texans or New England Patriots in the AFC title game. Stidham has started four games in his NFL career, none since starting two for the Broncos in 2023.
“We’ll rise up for the next challenge and go from there,” Payton said.
Ben DiNucci last played a regular-season game in 2020. He was playing for the Dallas Cowboys at the time. A former seventh-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, DiNucci has only appeared in three games.
In all, DiNucci has completed 23 of 43 passes for 219 yards and zero touchdowns to zero picks.
Denver has minimal time to get ready to face either the Texans or Patriots next week. Either way, it’s going to be a tough one.
