The 4th Quarter Belongs to the Denver Broncos

Remember when that saying was displayed on the scoreboard at old Mile High Stadium?

Throughout the Elway, Plummer, and Manning years, fans knew to stay in their seats until the final seconds ticked off the clock. There was always the opportunity for Mile High Magic to turn the tide of tough games. Only fools lost faith in the Broncos before the 4th quarter.

On Sunday, against the Eagles, I was that fool. I’ll admit it. I didn’t think the Broncos had a prayer to win about halfway through the third quarter. The Eagles fans were growing hoarse from singing their fight song so many times after scoring and I was mad.

The Broncos of the last decade would have just given up. The reigning Super Bowl Champs have a double-digit lead going into the 4th in their house? Too tall an order. Let’s hide on the plane and focus on the Jets, right?

I was wrong.

Denver roared back with swagger and bravado of a contender, showing the NFL world that they came to play for it all in 2025. The days of rolling over and dying before the game was over are through. For the first time in a long time, the Broncos have the talent and confidence to flip any game at any time to win. Those expectations of a dominat game-turning 4th quarter that had withered and atrophied over the last decade were rejuvenated and pumped full of life on Sunday.

Broncos football has always been about the 4th quarter and it’s so damn great to see it back and not a moment too soon. This team is not only fun to watch, but also a team that you just can’t count out until the game is over.
