The Seattle Seahawks are likely down one of their best run-stopping defensive linemen for the rest of the night.
Late in the first quarter against the Arizona Cardinals, first-year Seahawk and former Dallas Cowboys star DeMarcus Lawrence suffered a thigh injury after trying to chase down Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray for a sack. Lawrence was slow to get up, went to the medical tent, and did not return to the game.
As of the second quarter, Lawrence has been ruled doubtful, which is just about the same as saying he won’t be returning to action.
It’s worth noting that Lawrence missed most of his final season with the Dallas Cowboys due to a foot injury. Coincidentally, it also came in Week 4 on a Thursday night.
We’ll know more in the post-game press conference from head coach Mike Macdonald.
The Seahawks defense has been doing fine without him at least through the first half, but this could be a significant absence if Lawrence’s injury causes him to miss games.
