Dak Prescott said he believes the Cowboys are “very close” when asked about how they stack up against the Philadelphia Eagles pic.twitter.com/dzZE8qLZdX

“I feel like we compete with the Eagles and beat ’em for the most part when we’ve played ’em. I don’t want to say ‘check the record’ when the other guy’s holding a trophy right now, so credit to them. They’ve earned it and they deserve it by all means. But yeah, very close. Especially watching the NFC games, the NFC championship and those two teams (Commanders and Eagles), teams we battle against each and every year a couple of times. As I said, I feel confident that we’ve gotten the better part (of them) each and every time. To see them in such a dominating fashion, credit to them. It’s our turn and it’s on us.”
Yeah okay. Maybe the games before this season were competitive, and the overall series has been competitive, but the Cowboys’ limitations are so glaringly obvious. They have goobers running the franchise and 40% of their cap is going to the quarterback and a receiver. They just hired Brian Schottenheimer to be their head coach. Micah Parsons wants to be an Eagles and three straight 12-win seasons amounted to nothing but embarrassing playoff losses. They’re only close on paper, and that was three years ago.
The thing that separates the Eagles, and now the Commanders, from the Cowboys, is organizational culture. A clearly-defined philosophy and executable plan. Jeffrey Lurie bestows his emotional intelligence upon his underlings and Howie Roseman builds winning teams. The players buy in and the framework for sustained success is very easily understood and adhered to. And in Washington, Josh Harris hired the right people, if you can believe it, then those people drafted a franchise quarterback and surrounded him with veterans for immediate success. Their trajectory is only going up while the Cowboys are only going to accomplish two things in 2025 – jack and shit. And jack left town.
