Deion Sanders is coming to the defense of his son.
Over the weekend, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens were interested in drafting Shedeur Sanders, but were told that he didn’t want to play in Baltimore, and back up Lamar Jackson.
When asked about Schefter’s report, Shedeur claimed that he didn’t remember anything before getting drafted.
“You wouldn’t believe my memory don’t even go back that far,” he said. “I don’t remember anything (pre) draft. I remember I’m here, I go to practice every day, and there’s a 24-hour rule.”
“I don’t really talk about anything in the past, and whatever happened in the past, it is what it is. I’m more focused on now, and I’m focused on this game we just had and figuring out how to move forward from that.”
On Monday, Deion went on Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast and confirmed his son shot down the Ravens during the draft.
“How in the world can somebody fault him for thinking, ‘Why in the world would I go back up Lamar for 10 more years?’ Who comes in with that mindset?” Deion said. “Where do these guys come from that sit on these platforms and say, ‘You should’ve sat behind and learned the game and developed.’ When have the pros developed anybody? By the time you get to the NFL, they expect you to know what you need to do and do it, or somebody else is gonna get in there and do it.”
“I’ve never sat on the bench and said ‘I’ve learned a lot today,’” Sanders said. “Who learns sitting on the bench?”
Deion believes Shedeur will get a shot to start with the Browns soon.
“I’ve got a prediction, I ain’t telling anybody. I got a feeling when it’s gonna go down, but it’s gonna go down, all right? He’s going to get a shot.”
