Marv Levy just turned 100. Yes, triple digits on August 3. The man who guided the Buffalo Bills through one of the most iconic runs in NFL history is still around, still sharp, and still watching football. Yet on Thursday morning, the internet made things a little different.

Death rumors about Levy began popping up late Wednesday night. By Thursday, Facebook posts with thousands of likes claimed the Hall of Fame coach had died. Some fans even shared tributes before checking the facts. The speculation hit harder as it came just days after another beloved coach had died unfortunately.

But here’s the reality: Levy is alive. And people close to him in Buffalo confirmed it.

Fans Fell For A Levy’s Rumor

A viral Facebook post announced Levy’s “death” with dramatic language about his legacy and his impact on the game.

“Heartbreaking news emerged that former Buffalo Bills head coach Marv Levy has passed away. Known for his fiery spirit, sharp wit, and unmatched leadership, Levy carved his name into NFL history by guiding the Bills to an unprecedented four consecutive Super Bowl appearances in the early 1990s,” the post read. And with that, thousands of fans hit share.

Local station Country 106.5 quickly stepped in. “No, he did not (die),” the outlet reported. They added that the Facebook stories on the internet were either AI-generated or simply made up. “It is insane what the internet can do, but it is also a little scary the fake accounts that people believe and are willing to reshare,” the report read.

Levy himself recently joked about his milestone birthday. “Well, I’d prefer to be turning 25, to tell you the truth,” he told the NFL’s official website. He also spoke about how thankful he feels for his wife, Frannie, and daughter, Kimberly.

The legendary coach remains excited about football. He plans to watch the Bills take on the Ravens in their season opener on Sept. 7. And the team has kept everyone excited, especially after the Bills made some good changes on their roster.

So, no, Marv Levy isn’t gone. He’s still very much here, still connected to the game, and still cheering for the Bills.
