Even without key starters such as Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, and Jaylen Warren, the Pittsburgh Steelers offense made a strong first impression by scoring on their opening drive of the preseason. Arthur Smith’s troops went 65 yards in nine plays without the ball even hitting the ground via incompletion. Sure, the preseason features plenty of vanilla schematic elements, but it’s worth noting that this drive came against the Jacksonville Jaguars first-team defense. That’s definitely worth getting excited over.

In our first live-action look at the unit, we even saw a couple unique wrinkles to the offense that weren’t previously on display last season. In order for this club to leap into true contender status, they’re going to need the offense to evolve and carry their own weight in 2025. Saturday was an encouraging start to achieving that.
