Some good news for the defense.

Monday was the Cincinnati Bengals’ annual media luncheon, where we get to hear from coaches and executives ahead of the opening of training camp.

There were plenty of questions about Trey Hendrickson and Shemar Stewart, but head coach Zac Taylor gave updates on two other key Bengals as the start of camp draws near.

Cornerback Dax Hill appeared to find his home last season before tearing his ACL just five weeks in to the season, but Taylor says that Hill is cleared and will be ready to go at the start of camp, though his workload will be managed early on.

Hill heads in to his fourth season in the NFL, and it appears he will be playing cornerback again this season after transitioning from safety ahead of 2024. The Bengals picked up Hill’s fifth-year option despite his injury from last season.

The cornerback battle will be interesting to watch in camp. Hill will join Cam Taylor-Britt, DJ Turner, and Josh Newton as the four vying for a starting role. Hill could play inside, as he did at the University of Michigan.

New defensive coordinator Al Golden also says he expects B.J. Hill to be good to go after a minor foot injury suffered in the spring, though he too will have his workload managed to start camp.
