Silver And Black Pride
While Week 9 wasn’t kind to the Las Vegas Raiders with a heart-crushing 30-29 overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, let’s check in on how Sunday treated a few former Raiders: Davante Adams, Josh Jacobs and Tre’von Moehrig.
The Los Angeles Rams pretty much cakewalked to a win over the New Orleans Saints, which wasn’t a surprise in the slightest. The bigger story here is Adams’ two-touchdown performance, which puts him tied for eighth with the Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez for the most career receiving touchdowns (111) in NFL history. That also puts Adams five scores behind the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame tight end Antonio Gates for seventh all-time. Only one player ahead of him on the list doesn’t have a gold jacket, former Arizona Cardinals’ wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who will likely be headed to Canton this summer.
We’ll be touching on this game a couple of times since it featured a pair of notable performances from former Raiders. The first being Jacobs, who continues to find the end zone. That brings him up to having at least one score in 15 out of the last 16 regular-season games. In five years and 73 games with the Silver and Black, the 2019 first-round pick had 46 rushing touchdowns, and he’s already logged 25 in two years and 24 games with Green Bay, on top of one receiving touchdown. However, the Packers’ offense turned the ball over twice, leading to an underwhelming performance overall and the upset home loss.
Speaking of Green Bay’s turnovers, one was a Jordan Love interception that Moehrig hauled in for his first pick as a Carolina Panther, setting up a touchdown to give the team the lead heading into the fourth quarter. Also, he managed to fill up the stat sheet pretty well by coming up with another pass breakup and getting a couple of stops in the backfield, in addition to five tackles on the afternoon. That continues what’s been a pretty good campaign for the safety.
This was a crazy game where the Bears were short-handed at running back. That allowed Brown to get his first NFL carry and touchdown. The 2022 seventh-round pick played some special teams with the Raiders as a rookie but battled injuries and failed to make the team over his last two training camps with the club. Congrats to Brittain on the special day!
