Behind the Steel Curtain
Darnell Washington has become such a big part of what the Pittsburgh Steelers do offensively. On top of being a tremendous blocking tight end, Washington has become a big part of the Steelers’ passing game.
The Georgia product had four catches for 67 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11, including multiple highlight runs in which he threw several defenders off of him. This sparked a popular conversation about how much Washington really weighs. He’s billed as being 264 pounds, which everyone rightfully scoffs at, knowing the number is certainly higher than that. Washington himself finally revealed what the actual number is, though, in a recent appearance on the St. Brown Podcast with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Equanimeous St. Brown.
“I’m gonna keep it a buck,” Washington said. I’m 311 [pounds].“
Knowing the exact number and remembering he hurdled a Bengals defender this past Sunday really puts into perspective just how rare an athlete Washington is, and he appears to only be getting better.
