PITTSBURGH — Darius Slay returned to practice for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday, after exciting the concussion protocol.

Slay missed the team’s Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals while in the concussion protocol, but head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that he had exited the program and was expected to return to practice this week.

Tomlin also said that Slay will return to the starting lineup, despite the strong play of backup James Pierre, who had replaced Slay since he was injured against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10.
