Dan Quinn is back for another “Tell the Truth Monday” and he’s got some explaining to do after yesterday’s 34-27 road loss to the the team he used to coach, the Atlanta Falcons. He talked to reports briefly after the game and bemoaned the team’s performance in 3rd down on both sides of the ball. Quinn said he needed to watch the tape for multiple questions.

He opened today’s presser with some injury updates. DE Javontae Jean-Baptiste tore his pec yesterday and is going to injured reserve. This injury takes “months, not weeks”, but Quinn didn’t rule out a return later in the season, depending on how the surgery and recovery goes. Washington will announce the corresponding roster move soon.

Jayden Daniels had a good workout on Saturday, and they’ll set his practice plan over the next two days. Terry McLaurin(quad), John Bates(groin), and Noah Brown(groin) are trending up, and in the right direction. Sam Cosmi is also trending in the right direction to return from his January ACL surgery, and Quinn said they’d have a more definitive answer on his return from the PUP list on Wednesday.

Quinn wasn’t happy with the defense’s performance yesterday, and said they needed to pressure Falcons QB Michael Penix more to get him off his spot on the longer throws. He would have liked to see more stunts. There were Also way too many misses tackles, communication breakdowns, and big plays allowed. Quinn said there’s a lot of work that needs to be done in meetings and practices to eliminate the mistakes, including penalties, that have been happening too much this season.
