Dan Quinn spoke to the media before today’s practice. Jayden Daniels will be on the field on a limited basis, and he’ll speak to the media after, his first presser since after the Packers game where he was injured. Quinn said he’s “doing everything to possibly can to get out there”. Daniels missed the first game of his career, and Marcus Mariota led the team to a 41-24 victory over his former team.
Terry McLaurin was injured during that win, and is seeking a second opinion on what’s being described as a hip injury by the team. Quinn said getting that second opinion is pretty normal for injured players. McLaurin won’t practice today, and it’s been reported that his status for Sunday’s away game against the Falcons is in doubt.
Sam Cosmi tore his ACL earlier this year in a win over the Detroit Lions in the playoffs. He’s eligible to return from the Reserve/PUP list on Monday, and Quinn said that he’s been pushing hard in his rehab to get back on the field. If Washington activates his 21-day return window, he’ll be eligible to play in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers. It will likely take him more time to “ramp up” as he returns to the field for the first time since January.
Dan Quinn said the team has full confidence in kicker Matt Gay who has been getting scrutinized since the preseason for missed kicks. Fans have been calling for competition to be brought in for Gay, who signed a very lucrative contract in the offseason. He is 3/6 on field goals for the season, and missed a 37-yard FG and had a kickoff go out of bounds for a penalty. Gay did hit a 56-yard FG later in the game, but the calls for competition/replacement haven’t stopped. Quinn is sticking with him…for now.
