Dan Quinn speaks to the media after practice
Dan Quinn spoke to reporters after Washington’s snowy practice today. He named this week’s team captains, and wanted to honor some heavy hitters for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Bobby Wagner(defense), Terry McLaurin(offense), and Jeremy Reaves(special teams) get the nod this week.
Jonathan Allen has been a team captain in the past and he returned to the practice field this week. Washington opened up his 21-day practice window, and he was limited this week as he returns from a partially torn pectoral. Quinn said he put some good work in this week, but he’s going to be the only player ruled out for this week’s game. He’s encouraged for a return to play next weekend when the Commanders host the Falcons on Sunday Night Football.
Jeremy Chinn and Zach Ertz both suffered concussions last week vs the Saints, and both of them were out of the non-contact jerseys they had been wearing while in concussion protocol. Sam Cosmi and John Bates have been dealing with an illness similar to the one that knocked Tyler Biadasz out on gameday last week. Both of them returned to practice today.
Washington is preparing to host the Eagles, and they’re home underdogs. Quinn was asked about learning from the first matchup. The Eagles are on a 10-game winning streak, and are in a three-way tie for the best record in the NFC with the Lions and Vikings. Quinn basically said if you want to be somebody, you’ve got to beat somebody, and they need to do that on Sunday against the 12-2 Eagles.
