Dan Quinn answered questions from reporters before the Washington Commanders hit the practice fields in Ashburn, VA. The team is getting ready for a home Monday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears. They have an extra day this week, which Dan Quinn said would be good for players recovering from injuries like WRs like Noah Brown(groin) and Terry McLaurin(quad). Brown was back at practice for the first time since getting sidelined in Week 2. Quinn said the knee injury he suffered early in the offseason isn’t affecting him, it’s only the groin that kept him off the field. McLaurin has missed the last two games, and wasn’t on the field today. Quinn said they’d work through the week to see where he’s at before determining his game status.

Sam Cosmi tore his ACL in January during a win over the Detroit Lions in the divisional round of the playoffs. He is on the reserve/PUP list, and the team open his 21-day practice window last week. He won’t be getting activated this week, but he’ll get in a full week of practice and will be in pads. Washington made a switch at both guard positions after Week 2’s rough loss to the Packers. Chris Paul replaced Brandon Coleman at left guard, and Andrew Wylie replaced Nick Allegretti. Quinn was asked if their good play has slowed down the rush to get Cosmi back on the field, and if they’re in competition for the LG spot when Cosmi returns to RG.

The last time the Commanders hosted the Bears, the game ended in an unlikely Hail Mary touchdown that gave them the 18-13 win. Quinn said that was last year’s story, and they are focused on this week’s game. The Hail Mary was one of the most exciting plays of the year, in a season that was filled with exciting plays. Quinn explained the emotions during that win, but clearly wants to keep the focus on the next game.
