Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts silenced a lot of critics during Super Bowl LIX with an outstanding performance to lead his Eagles to a 40-22 throttling of the Kansas City Chiefs to bring home the championship and avenge their loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.
Hurts was nearly perfect aside from his one interception in the first half, going 17-for-22 for 221 yards and two touchdowns while adding 72 yards and a touchdown on the ground to capture Super Bowl MVP honors.
The apology tour from the media has already commenced, as ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky issued his on Monday.
“I owe publicly Jalen Hurts an apology. I was probably one this year who’s been the hardest on him. I’ll go back to a couple of weeks ago when I said the passing game’s not good enough right now and I don’t think it’s going to get better. All he’s done since then is have his two best games of the year on the two biggest stages,” Orlovsky said on Monday’s episode of First Take.

Orlovsky credited Hurts for being unbreakable after being benched during the National Championship game in college and losing a heartbreaker to the Chiefs two years ago in the Super Bowl, which only fueled him to get to this point.
While Orlovsky still doesn’t believe Hurts will ever pass guys like Joe Burrow or Josh Allen from a talent perspective, his Super Bowl win changes the narrative because he got it done while those other guys have yet to do so.
It is a fun redemption arc for Hurts, who has now cemented his place in history and changed the conversation around who he is as a quarterback.
