So New York, New York, becomes tight end, tight end.

Dan Jeremiah of NFL Network has posted his second mock draft of the year. He has the Jets going in a surprising direction with the seventh overall pick.

7. New York Jets Tyler Warren Penn State · TE · Senior

The Jets ranked second to last in rushing offense last season, and they desperately need another target in the passing game. Warren helps them improve in both of those areas.

Ok, maybe it isn’t THAT surprising since Jeremiah sent Warren to the Jets in his first mock of the year. Still I have major doubts the Jets will go in this direction.

After the success of Brock Bowers in 2024, I am guessing Warren’s Draft stock will be high. Here’s the thing, though. At the tight end position, a player has to be as good as Bowers to justify going in the top ten. It’s difficult to find an evaluator who will put Warren in Bowers’ class as a prospect.

The Jets clearly could use help at the tight end position. Starter Tyler Conklin is about to hit free agency. Number two tight end Jeremy Ruckert has shown few signs he is capable of helping during his three NFL seasons.

Still, there are ways to effectively fill the tight end spot without using a top ten pick.

This is just a mock draft. In the past, Jeremiah was an analyst who offered insight into the way the Jets thought because of longstanding ties with Joe Douglas. Under this new regime, he is likely less plugged in, and I would not expect this prediction to be accurate.
