Dan Campbell speaks interception into existence… again
Pride of Detroit Pride of Detroit

Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell is always an entertaining interview, but his post-halftime interviews have turned into something unique. For the second season in a row, Campbell has discussed how the defense needs to create a turnover to start the half, and within seconds, his defense delivers.

In Week 14 of the 2025 season, the Lions held a 20-9 lead over the Dallas Cowboys entering the half, with the Cowboys set to get the ball to start the second half. Following the kick-off, the broadcast played Campbell’s post-halftime interview in which he said this:

“We gotta get another takeaway, another stop.”

As the interview faded and the next play began, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw a quick slant to George Pickens, but Lions corner Amik Robertson jumped the route, knocked the ball into the air, and it dropped into the waiting arms of linebacker Derrick Barnes for the interception.

Campbell’s previous manifestation happened back in 2024 when the Lions were trailing the Houston Texans 23-7 at the half. The coach’s post-halftime speech preached needing turnovers just moments before corner Carlton Davis intercepted a ball to open the half. The Lions would go on to complete that comeback and win the game, 26-23.

Here’s a trip down memory lane:
