Dalton Kincaid injury: Bills tight end will try to play vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Buffalo Bills have been without Dalton Kincaid for the last three games, as their top receiver injured his hamstring in their loss against the Miami Dolphins in Week 10. However, according to reports, it appears that Kincaid is going to try to play in Sunday’s matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Kincaid, 26, was enjoying a solid season before his hamstring injury. In eight games this season, he’s caught 29 passes for 448 yards and four touchdowns. His touchdown number this season has equaled his touchdown total for his career to this point, and he has the same amount of yards receiving this season that he did all last season. While Kincaid was working his way back from the hamstring injury, he aggravated his left knee, which is the same knee he had surgically repaired last year. The knee injury is likely what will limit him on Sunday, or what will keep him out entirely if he discovers during warmups that he isn’t ready to play.

Buffalo has two healthy tight ends on the roster in Dawson Knox and Jackson Hawes. In the last three games, they’ve elevated rookie Keleki Latu from the practice squad in Kincaid’s absence; however, with Latu out of call-ups and the team dealing with myriad injuries along the defensive front, they chose to elevate defensive end Morgan Fox and linebacker Baylon Spector this week.

If Kincaid is able to go, it means that the Bills will have their full cadre of tight ends available for the first time in a month. If he can’t and the team wants to run three-tight end sets, they’ll have to use either fullback Reggie Gilliam, who has played tight end before, or an additional offensive lineman for that third tight end role. Alec Anderson and Ryan Van Demark have both filled that role before, and both should be active for Sunday’s game.
