Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb may receive a fine over a bizarre little mishap in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams.

CeeDee Lamb didn’t play in the Cowboys’ first preseason game of 2025, but he inadvertently found a way to make an impact on the sidelines. Lamb quickly turned his back away from the game and didn’t see a sideline official coming, leading to this awkward collision:

Lamb’s accidental sideline interference led to a 15-yard penalty against the Cowboys. If that wasn’t bad enough, Lamb’s honest mistake may also result in a monetary fine.

Speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show”, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reports that the league is reviewing the sideline collision to determine if CeeDee Lamb should also be issued a fine:

“The league is reviewing it, to see if there will be a fine that’s necessary, which would obviously add insult to injury or money to injury,” Schefter told McAfee. “Fortunately, he’s okay.”

Of course, it would be a relatively small fine. And after signing a four-year extension worth $136 million last year, a potential fine from the NFL would merely be pocket change for Lamb.

Last season, the 26-year-old caught 101 passes for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games, earning a fourth straight Pro Bowl nod.

CeeDee Lamb & Cowboys Open 2025 Season At Eagles

The Cowboys will be tested early when they kick off the 2025 NFL season with a road tilt against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 4. This will be Dallas’ second appearance in the NFL Kickoff Game in five years, having visited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the season opener four years ago.

Dak Prescott has had the Eagles’ number in his career, but completed the season series sweep last year with No. 4 sidelined because of a hamstring injury. Either way, the Kickoff Game promises to be a thriller.
