With Zack Martin’s retirement, the Dallas Cowboys are already replacing one starter on the offensive line. Now, after Sunday’s training camp injury, the Cowboys will have to replace another starter from last season’s group.
Earlier during Monday’s Cowboys practice, starting left tackle Tyler Guyton went down with what appeared to be a potentially serious injury. Later in the day, the Cowboys’ worst fears came true.
According to NFL Network’s expert Ian Rapoport, Guyton is “feared to have torn his ACL.” If so, it means Guyton will miss the entire 2025-26 campaign.
It almost guarantees the Cowboys will now be in the market for a new starting left tackle. They could look to find a quick replacement on the free agent market, where players like David Bakhtiari remain available. Though the two-time All-Pro was out of football last season, there’s no guarantee the 33-year-old will ever return.
The Cowboys could always turn to the trade block to solve their needs. If so, they could place a call to the Kansas City Chiefs for Jawaan Taylor, who may be in line to lose his starting role a year after inking a four-year, $80 million contract. If the Cowboys are willing to take on his contract, Taylor could likely be acquired for a late-round pick, perhaps even a sixth or seventh-round selection.
