The Dallas Cowboys have brought back offensive lineman La’el Collins, finalizing the deal shortly after Micah Parsons publicly requested a trade.
According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys have signed La’el Collins after hosting him for a workout. The 32-year-old signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2015 and spent his first six NFL seasons there.
News of the Collins-Cowboys reunion came after Micah Parsons requested a trade in a lengthy X/Twitter statement. The four-time Pro Bowler is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and he clearly became disgruntled and frustrated over the lack of progress in contract negotiations.

La’el Collins was a pleasant surprise coming out of 2015 training camp to earn the starting guard job. He missed all but three games in 2016 and the entire 2020 season, but was otherwise a regular starter throughout the rest of his first tenure in Dallas.
After the 2021 season, Collins signed a three-year deal worth $21 million with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals quickly rebuilt their offensive line after losing to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 56.
The Bengals released Collins ahead of the 2023 season, and he hasn’t played in the NFL since. He was briefly on the Cowboys’ and Buffalo Bills’ rosters in 2023 and 2024, respectively, but never played a snap for them.
Bringing back a familiar case like Collins was a savvy move by the Dallas front office, especially with standout offensive lineman Tyler Guyton sidelined indefinitely with a knee injury.
The Cowboys will begin their 2025 season against the archrival Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Kickoff Game on Sept. 4.
