Dallas Cowboys players fought at training camp for the second straight day on Wednesday, leaving head coach Brian Schottenheimer a very unhappy man.

First, it was rookie defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku and sophomore tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford who fought in Tuesday’s training camp session. On Wednesday, it was safety Markquese Bell and first-year tight end Tyler Neville.

According to Joseph Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News, a helmetless Bell threw a punch toward Neville. The latter pushed Bell with a crowd of players around them, with Bell accidentally punching cornerback Troy Pride during the scuffle.

Per Hoyt, a frustrated Brian Schottenheimer gathered the players and warned them that anyone who threw a punch again would be kicked out of practice.

A short clip of the fight can be seen below, courtesy of Hoyt:

It’s common for NFL coaches to shrug off fights in practices and chalk them up as players just “competing”, but Brian Schottenheimer has clearly already seen enough. If more fights happen in Cowboys training camp before their first preseason game (Aug. 9 at the Los Angeles Rams), speculation will only grow about Schottenheimer already losing the locker room.

Schottenheimer and the Cowboys kick off the 2025 season against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Sept. 4.

Brian Schottenheimer Was A Surprise HC Hire By Jerry Jones

The Cowboys decided not to renew Mike McCarthy’s contract after his five-year deal expired, and there were plenty of rumors about Jerry Jones potentially targeting Bill Belichick or Dallas legend and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders.

In a stunner, however, the Cowboys decided to promote Brian Schottenheimer to the HC position. Though Schottenheimer held the offensive coordinator position in 2023 and 2024, McCarthy was the one calling the plays on that side of the ball.

Only time will tell if Jones’ gamble on Schottenheimer pays off.
