Multiple Dallas Cowboys players took to X/Twitter to show their support for linebacker Micah Parsons, who requested a trade on Friday.
Having grown frustrated with the lack of progress in negotiations on a contract extension, Micah Parsons announced his trade request in a lengthy statement on X. The 2021 first-round pick noted that he “personally” submitted his trade request to Cowboys CEO and executive vice president Stephen Jones.
Before Parsons publicly demanded a trade, teammates DeMarvion Overshown and Juanyeh Thomas showed their support for Parsons by changing their profile pictures on X:

Cowboys superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb also expressed his frustrations with Jerry Jones and the front offices, calling for them to “pay the man what you owe em.”
Never fails dawg.
Just pay the man what you owe em. No need for the extra curricular 😒— CeeDee Lamb (@_CeeDeeThree) August 1, 2025

Micah Parsons is heading into the fifth and final year of his rookie contract. Last year, Jerry Jones dragged on contract negotiations with Lamb and Dak Prescott before finally completing deals before the regular season.
Though Jones isn’t exactly popular among Cowboys fans, he has a strong track record of locking up his best players long-term. Prescott, Lamb, Trevon Diggs, Zack Martin, Tyron Smith, Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Ezekiel Elliott, Dez Bryant and DeMarcus Ware are prime examples.
So it is surprising that he hasn’t managed to extend Parsons up to this point. The difference is that, compared to other Cowboys stars who had to wait longer than expected to finalize an extension, Parsons has had enough and wants a fresh start.
Parsons has been, without question, a top-five defensive player in the game since entering the league four years ago. The Penn State product has racked up 52.5 sacks, nine pass breakups and as many forced fumbles over his first four NFL campaigns.
