Blogging The Boys
The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus on Tuesday morning and a few hours after they did so, team owner, president, and general manager Jerry Jones released a statement about it.
“Having known Matt Eberflus for decades now, we have tremendous respect and appreciation for him as a coach and a person. After reviewing and discussing the results of our defensive performance this season, though, it was clear that change is needed. This is the first step in that process and we will continue that review as it applies to reaching our much higher expectations.”
It is a pretty straightforward statement that wishes Eberflus well and pledges to be better in the future. The Cowboys are in a world where The Drought™ is about to officially reach the age of 30 so a lot of words that they say fall on deaf ears for some. Time will tell what the Cowboys do next and who they find to be Eberflus’ successor.
