Dallas Cowboys fans already had to deal with a disappointing 2024 season, and now Jerry Jones is ensuring that 2025 will be just as bad after the announcement of Mike McCarthy.

Sources told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero that McCarthy and owner Jerry Jones are expected to begin contract talks on Friday.

Although no negotiations have occurred yet, Pelissero added Jones and McCarthy are open to moving forward together.

Mike McCarthy’s contract expires on Tuesday, so he and all of his assistant coaches will be free to interview with other teams if a new deal isn’t reached.

McCarthy was seemingly on the hot seat midway through the season after Dallas lost five straight games.

He has been with the Cowboys since January 2020 and has posted a 49-35 record. In the postseason, he has a 1-3 record.

He joined the organization after the Green Bay Packers fired him in 2018.
