There’s no way to deny that Dak Prescott’s ranking on the NFL Top 100 list just lit up every group chat in Cowboys Nation.
Coming in at No. 79, Prescott sparked outrage, confusion, and a lot of loud takes from both sides. After finishing second in MVP voting two seasons ago, a hamstring injury in Week 9 cut his 2025 campaign short. But not before he posted an 86.0 passer rating and tossed eight picks in as many games.
Now, at 31, Prescott’s future looks like a question mark to some fans, and like a redemption arc waiting to happen for others. Either way, his name is back in the news.
When the NFL dropped the latest chunk of its annual Top 100 list on Monday, Prescott’s name landed right after Tua Tagovailoa (No. 91), which marked just the second quarterback revealed so far. And boy, did the internet have thoughts.

Cowboys insider Brandon Loree added some perspective, “To me, it says more about the player the league knows he can be when healthy and the respect they have for him.”

Prescott’s fall to 79th comes after he cracked the Top 20 just last year, landing at No. 16 following a stellar 2023. That season saw him rack up 4,516 passing yards and 36 touchdowns, leading Dallas to its third straight 12-win year. He ranked fifth among quarterbacks behind Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts.
But his 2025 numbers didn’t tell the same story. Before the injury, he averaged 6.9 yards per attempt, his lowest since 2017, and his turnover issues resurfaced.
Still, the league hasn’t given up on him. The NFL players vote on this list, and their respect for Prescott’s talent and leadership still seems intact.
Plenty of quarterbacks will follow with the rest of the Top 100 still to be unveiled this summer. But none may create the same kind of hype that Dak just...
