🏈 ESPN ranked the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting roster the 19th best in the NFL.
🏈 Steelers legend Rocky Bleier will be the keynote speaker at the 10th annual Boots For Troops event on Saturday night in Houston at Hotel Zaza. Boots For Troops is a nonprofit charity dedicated to helping U.S. military service members.
Bleier first joined the Steelers in 1968, but his time with the team was interrupted by his military service. Bleier was drafted into the Army on Dec. 4, 1968 and volunteered for infantry duty in South Vietnam.
Bleier was wounded twice in the Vietnam War, taking a bullet in the thigh and then a grenade blast damaged his lower right leg and foot. Despite being told he would not be able to play football again, Bleier rejoined the Steelers in 1970 and resumed playing in the 1971 season.
Bleier played 10 more seasons after his wounds, rushing for 1,036 yards in 1976 to join backfield-mate Franco Harris in the 1,000-yard club, the second time in league history two teammates rushed for 1,000 yards in the same season. Bleier was part of four Steelers Super Bowl wins and is a member of the team’s Hall of Honor.
🏈 Good Morning Football thinks the Steelers could have the tallest wide receiver room in the NFL.
🏈 Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox believes Joey Porter Jr. is going to be a Pro Bowler.
“Joey Porter Jr. has become one of the league’s better cover corners. While the Penn State product does have a penchant for picking up penalties, he’s big, physical, and sticky in coverage,” Knox wrote. “Over three seasons, Porter has allowed an opposing passer rating of just 71.2 in coverage. This past season, he allowed a career-low 57.2 rating. A Pro Bowl for Porter feels inevitable, as does a very lucrative second contract.”
🏈 Steelers safety Jaquan Brisker posted a video of him training. He also sent a blunt message.
“Pull up, I’m focused, I’m ready! Don’t even bother with me,” Brisker wrote on X along with the clip of him training.
🏈 Steelers’ second-round pick Germie Bernard is training with “The Route God” in Florida.
