🏈 Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater, who signed a four-year, $113 million extension in July, was carted off the practice field on Thursday, suffering a season-ending ruptured patella tendon, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Steelers play the Chargers on Sunday Night Football in Week 10 at SoFi Stadium.

🏈 Former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict has been hired as a defensive analyst at UNLV under first-year coach Dan Mullen and interim defensive coordinator Paul Guenther. Guenther was Burfict’s linebacker coach and defensive coordinator with the Bengals for a number of years.

🏈 Former Steelers guard David DeCastro has been named to the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame.

DeCastro is recognized as the best guard in program history, starting all 39 games he played in while producing 316 knockdowns, 68 touchdown-resulting blocks and a blocking consistency grade of 91.63%.

DeCastro was selected by the Steelers in the first round (No. 24 overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. In nine seasons (2012-20) with Pittsburgh, he was a six-time Pro Bowler (2015-20) and three-time All-Pro (2015-17).

A dominant force on the line cements his place among Cardinal all-time greats.
