🏈 Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was in Cooperstown this weekend to celebrate Andruw Jones. He was wearing a Braves jersey and No. 25 hat in support of the Atlanta Braves legend.

🏈 Pro Football Focus ranked Pat Freiermuth the 20th-best tight end in the NFL, while Darnell Washington came in at No. 27.

“Freiermuth has been a steady contributor for the Steelers ever since he was drafted in 2021. His 141 career catches that went for either a first down or a touchdown are the 10th-most in the NFL over the past five seasons. Similarly, Freiermuth’s 1,232 yards after the catch in that span are 11th,” Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus wrote.

In regards to Washington, Wasserman and Chadwick wrote, “Washington has ideal size for an offensive tackle at 6-foot-6, 311 pounds. He plays like one, too. His eight big-time blocks (PFF’s highest-graded blocks) over the past two seasons are three more than any other tight end in the NFL.

“But Washington is no slouch as a receiver either. His 12 broken tackles after the catch were fifth in the NFL in 2025, while his 7.4 yards after the catch per reception placed second in the NFL.”

🏈 Steve Smith Sr. compared Steelers rookie wide receiver Germie Bernard to Deebo Samuels.

“Development has been off the charts, gritty, tough, exactly what you want. The people I’ve talked to say he’s a true pro’s pro: high floor, excellent blocker, and over 500–600 snaps with zero holding penalties,” Smith said on his 89 podcast. “One of my favorite exec quotes from this year’s process: Everyone is chasing the Deebo Samuel model. Usually those guys aren’t great route runners and don’t have real wide‑receiver traits. Guess what this guy does.”

🏈 Yahya Black was shocked when he first saw Darnell Washington.

“My locker is right next to him. I see this big dude. I’m like, ‘That’s a D-line man.’ Nah, that’s a tight end. It’s like, Damn. Then we get into camp. They’re like, You’re gonna play the six. I’m like, All right, cool,” Black said on Christian Kuntz’s podcast. “l line up across from the tight end, hit him, and I’m like, That’s not a tight end.’ This is a true double team. I’m playing on the inside right now.”

🏈 Warren Sharp of Sharp Football posted a clip highlighting just how dangerous George Pickens can be when he’s locked in.
