Daily Dawg Chow (6/12): That’s a wrap on the offseason

The Cleveland Browns held their final day of mandatory minicamp on Thursday, which means that the team’s offseason activities have now come to a close.

The players and coaches will now head off for their summer break, before returning to Berea at the end of July for the first training camp under head coach Todd Monken.

Left unanswered for the moment is who will be the starting quarterback when the season opens on September 13. Veteran Deshaun Watson, who has yet to play a full season since joining the Browns in 2022? Second-year player Shedeur Sanders, who is reportedly “processing” things better than last year? Fellow second-year player Dillon Gabriel, the forgotten man of the quarterback room? Surely it won’t be developmental rookie Taylen Green?

Even though Monken had hoped to make a decision by now, he said on Thursday that he was going to defer the decision until he sees how everyone looks once the pads go on in training camp. While that could be his way of telling everyone that it doesn’t matter who he picks because all the options are bad, Monken assured everyone that he likes what he has seen so far from the position group.
