Let’s take a closer look at one of the prospects the Panthers could select in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Since it’s never too early to look forward to the NFL Draft, this weekly series will take a closer look at some of the prospects the Carolina Panthers could select in the 2025 iteration of the Draft. In this series, we’ll only be looking at prospects the Panthers could seriously consider. This week our profile will focus on Georgia Bulldogs EDGE Mykel Williams.

The most obvious strength Mykel Williams has is the elite size and athleticism at the EDGE position. Standing at 6’5” and weighing 265 lbs, Williams was a blue chip prospect out of high school and hit the ground running his first season at Georgia. In the Bulldogs’ championship run that year (2022), he was named to the First Team Freshman All-America team, leading the team with 31 quarterback hurries. His sophomore season was also successful, as he was awarded with a Second Team All-SEC placement. He also showed up big in the Orange Bowl that season, notching a sack, a forced fumble, and a pass deflected. This season, he has once again managed to make the opposing quarterback uncomfortable. He has five sacks and a couple forced fumbles so far, with the opportunity to improve on those numbers quite a bit if Georgia makes a run in the College Football Playoffs.

Williams usually wins with his athleticism and strength. The raw tools are all there to be a monster at the next level. He’s shown promising ability in the run and pass games, and his versatility on the line is a major asset for multiple fronts. His main weakness is what most young players struggle with: technique. He has shown flashes of good technique, but his consistency and precision need some work. Still, the size/athleticism combination makes Williams an intriguing prospect near the top of the Draft. Depending on his performance at the NFL Combine, he could skyrocket up draft boards.

What do you think, Panthers fans? If Mykel Williams is available when the Panthers select in the 2025 NFL Draft, should they take him? Sound off in the comments!
