Let’s take a closer look at one of the prospects the Panthers could select in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Since it’s never too early to look forward to the NFL Draft, this weekly series will take a closer look at some of the prospects the Carolina Panthers could select in the 2025 iteration of the Draft. In this series, we’ll only be looking at prospects the Panthers could seriously consider. This week our profile will focus on Marshall Thundering Herd edge defender Mike Green.

Mike Green started his college career with the Virginia Cavaliers. He transferred to Marshall in 2023 and had a moderately productive first season, notching 4.5 sacks and six QB hurries. He showed signs of improvement as the season progressed, improvement that continued into this season. The 6’4”. 250 lbs edge rusher led the nation in sacks this season with 17(!). He also had 81 total tackles, showing good finishing ability against the run as well.

Green’s explosiveness off the snap is one of his main tools to win against slower offensive linemen. His wrestling background gives him a wide range of moves, and his strong hands make his moves even more effective. He is also one of the few premier edge rushers with quality special teams contributions. If Green is going to be a true hand-in-the-dirt defensive end at the next level, he will likely need to put on some weight. He has also not had much experience against top tier competition, though he did dominate inferior competition, which is what scouts look for at these lower tier programs. Green’s consistent improvement week after week and breakout season could lead to him being taken late in the first round. If the Panthers decide to forego an edge rusher with their first pick, Green might be someone they consider at the top of the second if he is there.

What do you think, Panthers fans? If Mike Green is available when the Panthers select in the 2025 NFL Draft, should they take him? Sound off in the comments!
