New York signed Justin Fields to be the team’s starting quarterback, and things have started out terribly.
Fields’ training camp practice was cut short today with an apparent lower leg injury. Multiple reporters on the scene reported that Fields appeared to hurt his leg during team drills. he would limp to the sidelines, and then got checked out by the team’s medical personnel.
Quarterback Tyrod Taylor came off to check on Fields and then took over starting reps.
Justin Fields was carted away on Thursday at Jets practice after limping off the field with a right toe injury.

Head coach Aaron Glenn said Thursday morning he does not yet know the severity of the injury. Glenn thinks someone may have stepped on Fields’ toe.
For this very reason, quarterbacks wear red jerseys during practice to ensure players never touch them.
Fields signed a two-year, $40 million contract in free agency to replace Aaron Rodgers. He and Rodgers are supposed to both square off against their old teams in a Week 1 Jets-Steelers matchup.
Missing time on the field for Fields is going to hurt.
Any missed practice time as he learns the offense of first-time play-caller Tanner Engstrand, as Fields tries to prove he can be a legitimate NFL passer and dual threat, is crucial.
Fields was injured on the first play of the second 11-on-11 series and didn’t appear to put any weight on his right leg.
Aside from Taylor, the other quarterbacks on the Jets roster are Adrian Martinez and Brady Cook, who they signed as undrafted free agents this year.
The team might be forced to sit him for much of training camp and their preseason schedule to ensure this won’t be a lingering problem.
