Blogging The Boys
Early in the second quarter Dak Prescott found CeeDee Lamb for a big gain. Originally it looked like CeeDee fumbled after the catch, but replay quickly showed that his arm was well down.
Never fear! KaVontae Turpin took a handoff out of the backfield on the very next play and very clearly fumbled. Ball don’t lie? That doesn’t work here, but neither does this football team.
The Eagles looked to be in a bind as they were facing 3rd and 12 and the prospect of punting for the first time. Jalen Hurts found DeVonta Smith though, and soon enough he found the endzone by way of a tush push.
SCORE: COWBOYS 0, EAGLES 21 (Jalen Hurts rushing touchdown)
The Cowboys offense put up a bit of fight on their next possession as they did all they could to try to get something positive out of what was happening.
George Pickens was involved. Jake Ferguson had a nice gain. Dallas got down right up against the goal line and unfortunately Tyler Guyton had a false start. Another awful penalty.
That proved to be disastrous as right after Dak Prescott threw a horrible interception when looking for CeeDee Lamb in the endzone.
Interestingly the FOX broadcast speculated after they came back from commercial that Tyler Guyton may have been baited into jumping by an Eagles player. That is pretty hard to prove.
Anyways the Cowboys finally forced an Eagles punt and appeared ready to finally make this the opportunity where they got on the board. A big conversion from Prescott to KaVontae Turpin helped make that all the more possible.
It turns out this was the drive. Dak Prescott found George Pickens for the score with 21 seconds left in the half.
SCORE: COWBOYS 7, EAGLES 21 (Dak Prescott to George Pickens touchdown)
That was about it. Halftime.
The Eagles won the toss and deferred. Offense was officially up first for the Cowboys.
While the first moments seemed like things were going to click they quickly got tenuous as Dallas was facing a 4th and 3 from their midfield. Brian Schottenheimer went for it and Dak Prescott was unable to connect with Javonte Williams.
Unfortunately the Eagles made good on the short field position as they marched down and capped it off with a touchdown from Jalen Hurts to AJ Brown.
SCORE: COWBOYS 0, EAGLES 7 (Jalen Hurts to AJ Brown touchdown)
Dallas took over again and in a hole for the first time on the game. That did not exactly inspire much as they went three and out before punting the ball away.
Kudos to the defense for stepping up when called up as they went out and made quick work of their next opportunity by forcing a punt. Unfortunately the Cowboys ran into the punter and got his plant leg so the personal foul gave Philly new life.
Making matters all the more frustrating the Cowboys defense was called for an offsides when they...
