After a little under a month in California, the Dallas Cowboys conducted their final training camp practice on Wednesday afternoon before leaving Oxnard to return home for the remainder of the preseason. As always, training camp in Oxnard featured plenty of headlines. From the Micah Parsons saga, numerous unfortunate injuries, and notable on-field performances, Dallas’ 2025 training camp was not short of headlines.
In the final practice of camp, the Cowboys saw multiple offensive players on the bubble of making the final 53-man roster put on some impressive performances. Dallas’ trio of young wide receivers, Jalen Cropper, Ryan Flournoy, and Traeshon Holden, all made some nice plays during the team portion of practice.
All three wideouts had very positive practices, but Cropper may have had the best day of the group. While the 24-year-old wideout currently appears to be on the outside looking in, more practices and in-game performances like today will give him a much better shot at making the 53-man roster.
It wasn’t just the young receivers who showed up, rookie running back Phil Mafah had a very productive day. The Clemson product had an outstanding showing during training camp and capped it off with arguably his best practice in Oxnard this afternoon.
Mafah’s performance during camp has made Dallas’ decision at the running back spot much more difficult. Heading into camp, it seemed extremely unlikely the seventh-round pick would have any shot at making the roster, but the 22-year-old’s strong showing may force Dallas’ hand.
All in all, seeing multiple young players finish camp this strong is an extremely encouraging sign. The Cowboys are going to have some tough decisions on their hands come August 26th.
