The Cowboys will officially open the road in Week 1 at Philadelphia.

The NFL is set to release the full 2025 schedule on Wednesday. However, a huge matchup for Week 1 was leaked on Monday. After speculation about the Dallas Cowboys playing the New York Giants or Chicago Bears to kick things off, they will hit the road in the league's first game of the year to face the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on September 4.

This will be the first time the Cowboys and Eagles have met to start a season since 2000 when the latter won 41-14. For Dallas, it's the third time they will open the season against the defending champs. They defeated the Giants in 2012 and lost to the Tampa Buccaneers in a thriller in 2021.

New Cowboys' head coach Brian Schottenheimer is getting thrown right into the NFC East fire to kick off his tenure in Dallas. If the Cowboys pull out a win, he'll become the fourth coach in franchise history to win in his debut and join Barry Switzer, Chan Gailey, and Wade Phillips.

This matchup also marks the return of Dak Prescott. Although the Cowboys haven't had the ultimate team success under Prescott yet, they have played extremely well against the Eagles with him under center with a record of 9-4. In Philadelphia, Prescott is 3-3 as a starter during his career.

This is a huge game to begin the season and a chance for the Cowboys to start their journey back to the playoffs with a bang.
