Few posts are enough to send an entire fanbase in shock. That’s exactly what happened Friday when Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons dropped a public social media post and asked for a trade. The news hit hard, fans knew nothing, and even his teammates didn’t see it coming.
Moments later, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb made his feelings known, just one word on Instagram: “smh.” That’s “Shaking My Head” and probably that’s all he needed to say.
Parsons and Lamb have been teammates since 2021. They came in together. They’ve seen the ups and downs. And now, it seems like things may be reaching a breaking point inside the locker room.
Parsons’ request didn’t come out of nowhere. His frustration has been building. The Athletic’s Diana Russini reported that contract talks between Parsons and the Cowboys hit a dead end. The linebacker finally snapped.

“Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here,” Micah Parsons wrote on Twitter/X. “I no longer want to be held to closed door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans and my teammates, I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me.”
That message hit hard. Parsons has been nothing short of elite since entering the league. He’s racked up four Pro Bowl appearances and made the All-Pro team three times in four seasons. But with no extension in place and others like Sauce Gardner and T.J. Watt getting paid, he’s had enough.
CeeDee Lamb isn’t staying silent either. Speaking to The Athletic’s Jon Machota last week, Lamb supported his teammate.

“Obviously playing this media game with Jerry [Jones] is not the best,” Lamb said. “It’s not fun. It’s not recommended. (Micah) knows what he brings to the table. He should get what he deserves.”
Despite the chaos, Dallas reportedly has “no intention” of honoring Parsons’ trade request, according to Russini.
The Cowboys open the season against the Eagles on September 4. Whether Parsons is on the field is something to wait for but this locker room feels the tension surely.
