As a true freshman in 2017, he played in all 13 games, starting nine, and earned a spot on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Freshman team.
Over the next two seasons, Charles solidified his role on the offensive line, starting at left tackle and contributing significantly to LSU’s 2019 National Championship run.
In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Football Team selected Charles in the fourth round with the 108th overall pick.

In March 2024, he signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans but unexpectedly retired in August 2024 due to undisclosed personal reasons.
