After missing the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, the Dallas Cowboys are evaluating all aspects of their roster. On Thursday, they decided to add three more players into the mix.
The Cowboys signed three United Football League standouts in wide receiver Denzel Mims, cornerback Ameer Speed and offensive lineman Chris Glaser, via Todd Archer of ESPN. In turn, offensive lineman Matt Hennessy has been placed on injured reserve while cornerback Corey Ballentine and wide receiver Romello Brinson have been released.
Of the new additions, Mims is the most recognizable as he is a former second-round pick by the New York Jets. He spent three years in the league, catching 42 passes for 676 scoreless yards. After bouncing around numerous practice squads, Mims signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks of the UFL before being selected by the Dallas Renegades in the UFL Draft a year later. Mims went on to catch six passes for 55 yards with the Renegades.
Speed was a sixth-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2023. He has also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans and Chicago Bears, appearing in 17 games overall. Playing for the Houston Gamblers in 2026, Speed put up 16 tackles and two pass break ups.
Glaser has eight games of NFL experience, including one start, spending time with the Jets and Bears from in 2023 and 2024 respectively. He went on to start eight games for the Columbus Aviators in 2026.
There is no guarantee any of the three players make it to training camp let alone the final roster. But now, Mims, Speed and Glaser will have an opportunity to help the Cowboys get back on track.
