A blockbuster trade proposal has the Dallas Cowboys turning the NFL upside down by sending All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons to an archrival team.
Friday marks three weeks since Micah Parsons requested a trade from America’s Team following months of unproductive contract negotiations. Parsons is entering the final season of his rookie deal but has been eligible for an extension since last year.
The Parsons saga has turned ugly with each passing week, too. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones claims that Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, told the club “to stick it up our a*s” during contract negotiations.
If the Cowboys decide to give in and honor Micah Parsons’ trade request? The good news is that they would receive a monster haul in return.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay proposed one trade idea for all 32 teams before the regular season starts. For the Cowboys, Kay suggested that they trade Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for fellow Pro Bowl linebacker Rashan Gary, 2026 first and third-round picks and 2027 second and fourth-round picks:
“One squad that could meet the superstar’s price and may be willing to give up a hefty amount of assets in the process is Green Bay.
The Packers have been on the cusp of contending for several years but lack a generational talent like Parsons to anchor their defensive front.
If they are willing to give up a package that includes multiple Day 1 and 2 picks—as well as a quality talent such as Rashan Gary—it could be enough to get Dallas to move on from Parsons this offseason.”
Gary, who signed a four-year extension worth $96 million in 2023, earned his first career Pro Bowl nod in 2024 after logging 7.5 sacks. The 2019 first-round pick had 9.5 sacks in 2021 and nine in 2023, so the superstar potential is clearly there.
Would this hypothetical offer be enough to entice the Cowboys? The Packers don’t know if they don’t try.
The Packers defense is, essentially, loaded with good-but-not-elite players. It’s been a long time since they had a difference-maker of Micah Parsons’ caliber on defense (Clay Matthews or Charles Woodson), and the Cowboys superstar could very well be the final piece to help them end a 15-year championship drought.
Parsons’ latest social media activity suggests he’s completely done in Dallas. If that’s the case, the Packers should be ultra-motivated to make a move for a player on a Hall of Fame trajectory.
With Parsons leading the defense, Green Bay would emerge as the team to beat over top NFC clubs like the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders.
