Reports continue to swirl that Mike McCarthy will be safe for 2025.

There are two games remaining in the Dallas Cowboys season. With the team formally eliminated from playoff contention, we know that we are about a batch of milk’s time away from seeing them make some decisions relative to 2025 and beyond.

When the offseason hits the Cowboys will have several things to work on. Extensions for Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland would be great to see early on, and it goes without saying that seeing them be active in free agency when it begins would be a breath of the freshest kind of air.

Before we get to any of that though the Cowboys are going to finally have to do something about their head coaching situation as opposed to offering standard words and phrases in their media appearances. Mike McCarthy is about to finish his fifth season with the team, and therefore the initial contract that he signed, and Dallas needs to either give him a new one or launch a search for a brand new skipper.

Reports suggest it will be the former.

Whether the recent run had anything to do with it or not, one report thinks that Mike McCarthy is going to be safe. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini noted on the latest episode of Scoop City that she has spoken to people around the league who believe this will be the case.

“I have spoken to people around the league who believe that Mike McCarthy will be safe.”

Following Sunday night’s win over the Buccaneers, Jerry Jones spoke with confidence about Mike McCarthy; however, he declined to offer any indication as to what the future would entail.

As the offseason approaches it stands to reason that Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will be the hottest name on the market. Aside from the fact that Dallas may not be the most-wanted spot for would-be head coaches, recent reports suggest that the Cowboys may not be a fit for Johnson given the way that they conduct their business.

Maybe you would have been interested in Bill Belichick as an alternative option in a Johnson-less world, though. But with Belichick now running the University of...
