Blogging The Boys
The Dallas Cowboys are releasing cornerback Trevon Diggs. ESPN’s Todd Archer reported the news on Tuesday afternoon.
It has seemed for a long time now, even back into the offseason, that 2025 was set to be Trevon’s final year playing for the Cowboys. It is certainly interesting that they chose to release him just a few days before their season finale, but the team clearly felt that this was what was in the best interest of the organization.
Trevon’s greatest season for the Cowboys was easily his 2021 campaign where he led the NFL with 11 interceptions. The Cowboys gave him a contract extension ahead of the 2023 season and injuries have been an issue since then to the point that he has never really been the same player.
It will be interesting to see if Trevon is able to latch on to a playoff team at this point in the overall NFL season. He has a history with Al Harris so the Chicago Bears make some sense. His brother Stefon Diggs is currently on the New England Patriots, although there is a story encircling him that dropped on Tuesday as well.
We will see. All the best to Trevon Diggs.
Here are the salary cap implications of the Trevon release as well as some notes on the move from Jane Slater.
It makes sense that he would clear waivers, for what it’s worth. Obviously we will see.
