Cowboys running back Jaydon Blue has not taken a snap in a regular season game, but it appears he’s slated to make his NFL debut against the Jets on Sunday. However, he didn’t do himself any favors with a fashion decision he made a practice in the week leading up to the game that came back to bite him.

Most NFL players earn a salary that allows them to splurge on some flashy purchases. Many of them will flex by rolling up to games clad in designer clothing, and more than a few guys will step onto the gridiron rocking expensive jewelry (including Justin Jefferson, who stuffed a $1 million chain into his pants after it broke during a game last season).

That’s one of just a few ways players can express their individuality during games, as the NFL has strict uniform rules that prevent players from wearing attention-grabbing footwear (with the exception of the “My Cause My Cleats” clause).

However, they do have a bit more leeway when they’re not playing in a game. Jaydon Blue took advantage of that reality while practicing with the Cowboys ahead of Sunday’s showdown with the Jets, but he ended up regretting his decision not to break in the pair of kicks he rocked.

Jaydon Blue had to switch out of his Louis Vuitton cleats at Cowboys practice after they gave him blisters

Cowboys rookie Jaydon Blue earned a reputation as a bit of a diva before he even headed to Texas to play college football, as he opted out of his senior season in high school in order to prioritize his health.

He ended up playing for the Longhorns for three seasons before declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, and the Cowboys ultimately used the 149th overall pick to scoop up the RB in the fifth round.

There were some concerns surrounding his work ethic before he arrived in Dallas, and a former coach cited sources within the organization when he asserted Blue had earned a reputation for being “borderline lazy” once he got there.

Coaches and players who’ve actually worked with him have publicly downplayed those concerns, but head coach Brian Schottenheimer cited the lack of consistency issues he’s instructed the rookie to address as the reason he hadn’t taken a snap in the first four games he was eligible for.

According to Cowboys Wire, Schottenheimer also noted Blue would be wise to grow from a learning experience that unfolded after he rolled into practice on Thursday sporting some designer cleats, saying:

“[He made] a little questionable decision. He went out there with some cool new cleats. Louis Vuitton…coach.

About halfway through practice, I saw him laying on the side. I thought, ‘What the hell happened to Blue?’ ‘Oh, Coach, I’m fine, I have blisters.’ I was like, ‘Oh, shocker. Look at your cool shoes you got.’

**That’s part of what you deal with in young players. And quickly he changed his cleat and it’s amazing the blisters weren’t as...
