It is yet to be seen how the Rashan Gary trade will work out for the Dallas Cowboys. But the Packers seem content with their return. And Gary wants everyone to turn on the tape and see how he fits with his new team.
Just watch and learn, Gary said, according to a post on X by Calvin Watkins.
“Rashan Gary on how he fits in the 3-4: ‘Film speak for itself, but man, I’m a dog, man. I play with a lot of effort, cause a lot of pressure. I don’t feel nobody like to go against me. I’m just bringing the same energy, same hustle, same mentality.’ ”
They certainly didn’t have to give up a haul for him. When compared to the Myles Garrett price, the Gary trade looks bargain-ish, according to Sports Illustrated. (Although it should be noted that Sports Illustrated is using a comparison between Garrett and Gary. The two players are arguably planets apart in terms of abilities and certainly in production.)
“At the beginning of the new league year, the Cowboys acquired Gary for a fourth-round pick in 2027,” Josh Sanchez wrote. “Considering the career he has had when healthy and the fact that he is returning to a scheme where he (excelled) the most, it’s an absolute steal for Dallas.
“While Gary isn’t the generational talent that Garrett is, he comes at a low cost and has incredible upside for the team. Under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker, Dallas’ pass rush will be a group effort, and Gary will be an important part of the team’s rotation. And it didn’t cost a future All-Pro, a first-round pick, and more.”
If Gary matches his first-half production with the Packers last year, and then follows up with a good second half, the Cowboys will be thrilled to have him. The gauntlet has been thrown down by Gary. Now he has to live up to his claims with a new team.
