Stephen Jones has some explaining to do.
Jones went viral on Sunday Night Football for several reasons. Before he and Jerry Jones walked out on the team, there was another curious moment during the contest.
As they often do, NBC went into the owners’ private suite to see what the Jones family was up to. At the time, the Dallas Cowboys were winning the game.
Strange: Cowboys owner Stephen Jones got caught using a walkie-talkie at last night's game in the owners' box next to Jerry Jones.
I wonder what he was saying…🧐pic.twitter.com/v4nvxn90pa

The broadcast showed Stephen Jones holding and speaking into a walkie-talkie. He seemed to be very engaged with the conversation as he watched the game. In an era where fans think games are being rigged, this wasn’t a good look.
Fans are all too accustomed to the NFL referees making controversial, game-changing calls these days. It even happened when the Cowboys and Lions played each other this month.
After seeing Stephen Jones, many wondered what he was doing with the walkie-talkie. According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Jones uses the walkie-talkie to get injury updates from the sideline.
“To clarify: The walkie-talkie is for injury updates from the sideline,” Machota wrote.
The Cowboys remain alive in the NFC playoff race, but with just a slight chance. Dallas needs help and near perfection to keep its season going past January.
Heading into Week 15, the Cowboys sat at 6-6-1. They made it even worse by losing to the Vikings. Dallas had just a 7% chance to make the postseason before the game kicked off. It is now less than 1%.
Stephen Jones and his father were so upset that they left their seats early during Sunday Night Football. The trades that they have made have not helped them get over the hump.
Now, the team is facing a real possibility of sitting at home during the postseason.
